Paola Jo Corso is the author of eight books of poetry and fiction set in her native Pittsburgh area where her Southern Italian immigrant family members were steel workers. Oxygen for Two completes her Pittsburgh air trilogy along with Once I Was Told the Air Was Not for Breathing and The Laundress Catches Her Breath, winner of The Tillie Olsen Award for Creative Writing. Other books include Vertical Bridges: Poems and Photographs of City Steps and Catina's Haircut: A Novel in Stories. A recipient of a New York Foundation for the Arts Poetry Fellowship and Sherwood Anderson Fiction Award, Corso has been published in venues such as The New York Times and numerous anthologies. As a member of the Brooklyn collective, Park Slope Windsor Terrace Artists, she exhibits her photographs in galleries, libraries, and open houses as well as publishes them in literary journals. She cofounded Steppin Stanzas, a grant-awarded, grassroots performing arts project to celebrate Pittsburgh city steps, and is proud to be included on Pennsylvania Center for the Book's Literary Map.
