As CavanKerry’s Administrator, I find myself involved in all aspects of the press. One of my favorite tasks is overseeing our GiftBooks Program. This is an ongoing service of providing books of poetry to non-profit organizations, and underserved communities including shelters, hospitals, senior centers, schools, Veteran’s organizations; as well as the military in Iraq and Afghanistan.
CavanKerry is also starting a partnership with New Jersey’s Poetry Out Loud program. We will be giving GiftBooks to the students who participate in the local, regional and state competitions. This year 109 high schools from around the state participated in the program.
We offer books usually two times a year, in June and again during the holiday season in December. However, we are always anxious to provide books to these and other organizations at any time. Our most recent donation was to The International Book Bank in Baltimore, Maryland where they have accepted 2,000 copies of various titles to be distributed amongst their readers.
